Well, it's not a proper website without an FAQ page, is it !!
Is Reiki just another form of faith healing?
No. Reiki requires no religious faith on either the part of the client or the practitioner. In fact you could go so far as to say that Reiki is "Faithless Healing" as the effect is not dependent on the beliefs of either the Practitioner or the Client. Reiki will work, wether you believe in it or not. It is highly effective on animals, who have no concept of belief.
Even if you as a client just believe that you are having a good rest for an hour or so, then Reiki will still work for you.
Can I overdose on Reiki?
No. Reiki is an "on demand" treatment. The practitioner is a channel for Reiki, not a controller. No "dose" is given. You will get exactly the right amount for your needs. Sometimes a client will subconsciously stop accepting Reiki. This is also normal, and should not cause any problem.
Which conditions can be treated by Reiki?
I believe that all conditions can be treated. The ones which seem to respond best are Stress, High blood pressure, Arthritis, and any long term injury. Chronic pain such as backache also responds well. Reiki can treat anyone, for anything.
I'm Diabetic. Can I still have Reiki treatments?
Yes. Definately! I know this from personal experience, as a Type 2 Diabetic myself. Diabetes and other medical conditions benefit from Reiki, although caution is the word. Please,Please,Please seek medical advice if you are unsure. From my own experience, I have noticed that my blood sugar levels have reduced and become far more stable, and I do not have as many side effects from my medication. If you are Diabetic, please pay attention to your glucose monitoring while undergoing your Reiki treatment.. Please do not stop taking medication prescribed by your GP while having a course of Reiki treatments.
Do you have to be religious to believe in Reiki?
No, because Reiki is not a religion.I am a member of a Spiritualist Church, but lead a fairly secular life. In fact I fully support the aims of the Leicester Secular Society ( see my links page). Reiki does not require the Practitioner or the Client to have any religious belief at all.
What do I have to do when having a Reiki treatment?
This is an easy one to answer. Do nothing. Just relax, be calm and go to sleep if you wish (many people do, the practitioner will not be put off by the sound of snoring!). It is usually not helpful to talk to the Practitioner too much while having a treatment, but this is something that is personal to each Practitioner.
